Dr. Thomas A. Vogelpohl, OD
Dr. Thomas Vogelpohl completed his undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA.
Dr. Vogelpohl's education, advanced training and over 35 years of experience, combined with his passion for superior patient care, allow him to make the best recommendations for his patients' individual vision needs.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association. Dr. Vogelpohl is a longtime resident of the St. Paul area.
Dr. Mark Hennen, OD
Dr. Mark Hennen completed his undergraduate degree in biology from Saint John’s University here in Minnesota. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.
Dr. Hennen is a past president of the Minnesota Optometric Association and is also an active member of The Minnesota Board of Optometry and the American Optometric Association. He is proud to welcome his son, Matthew Hennen, O.D., joining him in practice at Dakota Eye Care.
Dr. Hennen and his wife are long time residents of Inver Grove Heights.
Dr. Laura Flockencier, OD
Dr. Laura Flockencier attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for her undergraduate studies. She completed her optometric training at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Dr. Flockencier went on to post-graduate training in a Primary Care Residency program at New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.
During her residency she concentrated on full scope primary care, diabetic care at the Joslin Diabetic Center and teaching optometry students. Her current professional interests are primary care and specialty contact lenses.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She resides in St. Paul.
Dr. Matthew Hennen, OD
Dr. Matthew Hennen attended undergraduate school at Creighton University in Omaha NE, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He completed his optometric training and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis TN.
Dr. Hennen's areas of interest are in primary eye care, ocular disease and contact lenses. He received extensive training in these areas during his externship rotations at Wolfe Eye Center in Des Moines, IA and in Kansas City, MO.
Dr. Hennen is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association. He has participated in several medical mission trips to third world countries, serving the local residents with ocular health care.
Dr. Hennen resides in St. Paul with his wife, Katie, a sports reporter. He is an avid golfer and enjoys cheering on the Minnesota sports teams.
Dr. Robert Hochhalter , OD
Dr. Robert Hochhalter received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, where he studied biochemistry. He then attended and graduated from Illinois College of Optometry, earning his Doctor of Optometry degree.
Primary eyecare, ocular disease and post-operative management are among Dr. Hochhalter’s professional areas of interest. He has received extensive training in low vision from the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. He is also an active member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Hochhalter was born and raised in Stillwater, which is where he still resides with his wife and children. In his free time, Dr. Hochhalter enjoys traveling, athletics and restoration of old vehicles.
Dr. Rachel Hennen , OD
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Rachel Hennen has joined the staff of optometrists of Dakota Eye Care Associates! Dr. Rachel Hennen is the sister of Dr. Matthew Hennen and daughter of Dr. Mark Hennen, co-founder with Dr. Thomas Vogelpohl of Dakota Eye Care Associates in 1998.
Dr. Rachel Hennen is a graduate of Cretin-Derham Hall high school and went on to attend undergraduate school at Saint Louis University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
She completed her optometric training and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Massachusetts College Pharmacy Health Sciences in Worcester MA. As a student, she was an active member of several of optometric clubs, including having the privilege of being elected to multiple club boards. Further, she held membership with two honor societies, Gold Key International honor society and Beta Sigma Kappa honor fraternity. Dr. Hennen's areas of interest include primary eye care, ocular disease contact lenses, pediatrics and vision therapy. Dr. Rachel will be an invaluable member of our physician staff and we look forward to having her expertise in these areas.
Dr. Hennen resides in St. Paul. In her free time she enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake, watching sports (Go St. Louis Cardinals!) and spending time with her family and friends
