MINNEAPOLIS,
Minnesota --- Dr. Mark Hennen was awarded the
Dr. Louis A. Allgeyer Distinguished Optometrist
of the Year Award by the Minnesota Optometric
Association (MOA) at its Annual Meeting Awards
Banquet recently in Minneapolis. Dr. Hennen has
been in his current practice at Dakota Eye Care
Associates, West St. Paul, since 1998.
The MOA Distinguished Optometrist of the Year
Award is presented to an outstanding optometrist
who has shown great involvement in the
optometric community over the years as well as
in his or her local community. Dr. Hennen is a
previous MOA Optometrist of the Year award
winner, and past MOA president. He has recently
completed 22 years on the American Optometric
Association (AOA) Healthcare Access Committee.
He has completed numerous advanced professional
trainings and remains active in various
optometric organizations.
Dr. Hennen also remains active in his community,
where he has served on the St. Joseph’s School
Board and has coached girls and boys basketball.
He has participated in two mission trips to
Vietnam as a Project Health Volunteer. He also
finds time to enjoy fishing, golfing and leisure
traveling.
A native of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, Dr. Hennen
received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St.
John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota, and
earned a Doctor of Optometry degree at Illinois
College of Optometry.
The Minnesota Optometric Association has more
than 400 member doctors of optometry around the
state. The MOA is committed to furthering
awareness of optometrists as primary eye care or
family eye doctors and to bringing about change
that positively impacts the MOA member doctors
