Laser Vision Correction

Considering laser vision correction?

With today’s advancements in refractive surgery, specifically - LASIK and PRK - it is now possible to correct nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. Laser vision correction can reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Here at Dakota Eye Care Associates our doctors offer comprehensive care for all refractive surgery patients.

If you are considering refractive surgery, we will thoroughly evaluate your vision to determine, preliminarily, if you are a candidate. If we determine that you are, we will refer you to an experienced ophthalmologist for further evaluation and the surgical procedure. At Dakota Eye Care Associates we work closely with Minnesota Eye Consultants and TLC -- The Laser Center. And you will feel confident knowing that our doctors will handle the postoperative care to make sure your recovery is quick and successful. By working closely with Minnesota Eye Consultants and TLC we can ensure the most efficient and focused care possible.

Are you a candidate for refractive surgery?

The ideal candidate for refractive surgery is over 25 years of age with healthy eyes and without a significant change in their prescription for the last 12 months. People with certain medical conditions or pregnant or nursing women may not be good candidates for refractive surgery. For nearsighted patients, refractive surgery may be postponed until the refraction has stabilized, as nearsightedness may continue to increase for some patients until their mid to late 20s.

Types of refractive surgery:

LASIK – Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis

PRK – Photorefractive keratectomy

CK – Conductive Keratoplasty
