Routine eye care shouldn’t be
“routine” at all . . .
A comprehensive eye health and vision
examination is the cornerstone of optometric
care at Dakota Eye Care Associates. In our
comprehensive eye examination we review your
ocular and medical history, we measure your
visual acuity, eye muscle balance, color
vision, neurological pupil function and
fields of vision. We further evaluate all
aspects of your eye health concentrating on
cataracts, glaucoma, and macular
degeneration. We also evaluate how your
general health and nutrition effect your
eyes. Our doctors utilized the latest
diagnostic technology to provide both your
routine eye health and vision evaluations.

How often should I have my eyes
examined?
That depends on many factors, including your
age, eye health, family history, occupation
and general health. It is best to follow
your doctor's recommendations.
For children, both the American Academy of
Ophthalmology and the American Optometric
Association recommend a child's first eye
exam at the age of 6 months. Critical visual
skills are developing at this age and early
detection of vision problems can be crucial
to a child's learning and acquisition of
important skills. For school age children we
recommend an annual eye examination.
For Adults we also recommend an annual eye
examination to evaluate your vision, but
more importantly, to monitor the health of
your eyes and identify any vision
threatening or eye health threatening
conditions as early as possible.
